Introducing the new Watchlist

Until now your Watchlist was a ranking of the people you follow. You could see who was ahead of you, but you couldn't see why. So we rebuilt it from scratch. The Watchlist now runs a full comparison between you and the people on your list. You see where they beat you, how they post, and what has changed since you last checked.

The new whoranks watchlist

Let us walk you through

Build your list

Add the people you want to measure yourself against. Usually that means peers in your niche, a few people a step ahead of you, and maybe a competitor or two. Each card on the right shows their headline, followers, current rank and how far they moved. Edit list lets you swap people whenever your focus changes.

The ranking view is still there. Switch between Overview and Ranking at the top right.

Highlights

Three cards at the top tell you what changed.

Biggest climber. The person on your list who moved up the most. In the example in the screenshots, Lisa Kronberger climbed 9 places to #40 in Austria.

Post of the week. The strongest post anyone on your list published, with engagement rate, reactions and a direct link. When a post beats that person's own numbers, it gets flagged. Hannah Plattner's post here ran at 5.33% with 280 reactions, her best in three months.

Went quiet. The person who stopped posting. Jakob Lackner, 34 days without a post.

Six measures, with you in the middle

Everyone on your list, you included, gets ranked on six measures. Your row is highlighted, so you find yourself immediately.

  • whoranks Score. Average score of the posts in the last 90 days.

  • Engagement per post. Median engagement rate of the posts in the last 90 days.

  • Followers. Followers on LinkedIn today.

  • Follower growth. Change in followers over the last 90 days.

  • Posting rhythm. Posts per week over the last 90 days.

  • Conversation rate. Comments per post in the last 90 days.

Seeing all six side by side keeps one number from fooling you. The example account sits 7th of 9 on score but 3rd on follower growth at +4.7%. It has a small audience, and that audience is growing faster than most of the list. Conversation rate tells another story. Franziska Seidl averages 20 comments per post, the example account averages 4.

How they post

This is the part that explains the numbers above it.

An AI classifies every post from the last 90 days by format and main topic. Formats are Opinion, Story, Announcement, List, Promotion, Case study, How to and Question. Each person gets a bar showing their mix, plus the topic they write about most.

In the example, the two people with the highest engagement rate are Hannah Plattner with 15 stories and Lisa Kronberger with 14. The example account posted 7 lists, 6 opinions and 6 stories. That is the kind of gap you won't notice by scrolling your feed.

People to watch

Below your list, whoranks suggests who else to add. It shows the most watched people from your country first, then people with a similar reach to yours. Everyone in there posted this month, so you won't add someone who has been inactive for half a year.

A simpler start

We also rebuilt the onboarding. [1 to 2 sentences on what changed, e.g. fewer steps, your ranking right after signup, guided setup of your first watchlist.] If you signed up a while ago and never got far, it's worth logging in again.

Notifications you'll actually want

The notification system got an overhaul too. [1 to 2 sentences: what you get notified about now, e.g. ranking changes, new report ready, someone on your watchlist posted something strong, and how to set it.]

How to use it

Check the Highlights once a week. Open the post of the week and read it properly, because it's the best example of what works for people like you right now.

Once a month, scroll down to How they post. Find one format the top performers on your list use and you don't, and test it for four weeks. Your next report and your Watchlist will both show whether it worked.

On Personal Brand you get 10 watchlist slots. [Free plan: number of slots.]

Open the Watchlist tab in your account. The people you compare yourself with already know what works for your audience, and now you can see it too.
